Lesley Dixon and her father at the Effiel TowerIn July Lesley Dixon cycled over 300 miles from London to Paris on behalf of The Prostate Cancer Charity. Lesley said of the experience:

“Cycling from London to Paris proved to be one of the best experiences of my life. I'd followed the training schedule (it's really not that onerous) and as a result found the bike ride truly enjoyable. I'd thoroughly recommend it. The fact that I also raised almost £3500 for Prostate Cancer made it all the better!”

A big thank you to Lesley for all your hard work.

Chris conquers Mount Everest

Chris Dovell conquers Mount EverestChris Dovell climbed Everest in May 2009. His fantastic achievement was in memory of his father who died of prostate cancer and also in aid of the Sherpa community that supported the climb so well.

Chris survived the altitude, a stomach bug and an ice fall to reach the summit triumphantly! In fact the last part of his climb took him only 6 hours and 5 minutes – it normally takes about 9 hours.

You can read all about his adventures and see the fantastic pictures here: http://chrisdovell.blogspot.com

Chris raised over £6,800 for the charity.

The Great Wall of China trek

Derek Yarwood Great Wall of China trekDerek and Barbara Yarwood took part in the Great Wall of China Trek. The challenge took them 5 days and included a 4 hour walk up a mountain which is a part of the wall that tourists do not go to.

"At the end of our walk we caught the coach to Beijing. But first we had to climb for four hours in a storm over this mountain, sliding down the path in the mud and eventually getting to the top, due to the storm we could not rest at the top and walked over the pass for a few hours to a road. The whole adventure was a great challenge but worth every minute of the time spent there."
